All I Know Ashly Lorenzana 9781300050278 Books

As a lover of quotes, this book was right up my alley. Ashly has taken her day to day thoughts and musings and put them down, not only for all of us, but I suspect for herself as well. After all, sometimes it's our own thoughts that can remind us of a great many things. The quotes within the book range through a variety of subjects, but at the end of the day, they're all about life. There were some that made me smile, some that caused me to stop and thing and others that I'm sure I will be coming back to time and time again. If I have one complaint, it's merely the way that this translated to my kindle. I don't really blame the author for this because I know how persnickety these things can be. Honestly, I'm hoping that there will be another volume of quotes coming soon. I'd love to see that or even this volume expanded upon with perhaps the quotes being broken up by subject. Either way, if you're a lover of quotes and hard earned knowledge, I think you're going to enjoy this volume.

All I Know Ashly Lorenzana 9781300050278 Books Reviews

This is a very short book, consisting of only about 15 pages which are full of quotes and what appears to be, ideas and thoughts. I'm not sure what the authors intentions were with the layout of the book, since it's just a jumble of quotes and thoughts. They're each random and do not seem to have any relation to one another.

I did find some of the quotes to be very enlightening and relatable, but other than that I feel indifferent towards this book. It's neither great, nor bad. I would still rate this book at a 4/5 but I think the price of the book is a little high. It's a great book for those of you who are looking for some thought provoking quotes, I know some of them really got me thinking.
4 stars~ Interesting short book

It seems to me that this is just a compilation of some pretty random musings, enough to fill about 15 pages.
Some of them are pretty accurate, some we've all heard before, and some of them make you think. A few of them really stuck out for me- doing unselfish acts being good, but that those acts ultimately become selfish because of the feel good we get from doing them - and the very first one - never do anything you can't admit doing, because if it's something you'd be ashamed of others knowing about, it's probably not the right thing to do. Both of those are rephrased into my words, but those are the meanings.
The only thing I really didn't care for was the author's input on her drug usage and enjoyment. But.. to each their own, and the quotes were decent aside from that.
All I Know, written by Ashly Lorenzana, is a very short book full of quotes, thoughts and ideas from the author. I’m not totally sure what the author’s purpose was in writing this book as I found the format to be a bit confusing. The set-up seemed like a bunch of ideas and thoughts thrown together randomly without any reasoning behind it. Each page has sections of these ideas but they don’t seem very cohesive, sometimes seeming not to have anything to do with each other. Nothing else accompanies these ideas so it seems a bit voyeuristic, almost like reading the author’s private journal. This seems even more so near the end. Having said this, I did agree with many of the author’s observations on life and, for the most part, it was interesting to read. The glitch is that I don’t understand what the point of the book is.

Summary
A personal collection of quotes on life, love, sadness, pain, addiction, writing and other topics by the author. Ashly Lorenzana is a freelance writer, blogger and published author. She has worked as an escort for over five years, and has been a drug addict even longer than that. Several years ago, she started writing a list. The original title was simply, "The Things I Believe," and the title pretty much says it all. Since then, the list has grown and so has the expression used to convey each of her observations and discoveries about all areas of life.
Today, Lorenzana's quotes are shared countless times on social media sites and have appeared all over the web. People from all walks of life have found special meaning in her words and the little messages she has sent out into the world. All I Know is a thoughtful collection of quotes to make life appear more worth living, even while looking at it through the darkest lens known to mankind.

Social/Historical Context
The author has been able to organize her thoughts on many personal issues into a readable format. The book is very thoughtful, with a deep look at life through the author's words. These quotes are adaptable to anybody's life circumstance, whether good or bad. They shine through in terms of love, pain, addiction, etc. The things we experience are sometimes what we feel we're experiencing, or lies we tell ourselves in order to hide ourselves from the truth. ALL I KNOW exposes the bitter truth for our betterment. It answers pertinent questions we've always refused to raise in our lives as we blindly follow often laid down principles nobody has ascertained as the workable truth. Here is a raw insight into the experiment called life, a number of unique quotes that will upturn one's thinking and prove most of our life assumptions wrong.

Writing Style
The book is very short, but packed full of very thoughtful quotes from the author's daily reality. Always concise and to the point, you'll finish the book before you realize that you have gotten to the last page. This is because you won't know that you have gotten to the last page until you have basically gotten there due to the thought-provoking series of sayings Author Lorenzana has placed before you. What I mean if you haven't gotten it yet is that you'll be thinking as you read this book, literally, and you'll never put this book down until you're through reading it. Fact.

My Thoughts
Remarkably revealing and life-changing quotes from Author Lorenzana.

George Shadow is the author of THE BLACK BOOK.
I'm unsure how to review this in a way that comes across as unbiased, since I'm madly in love with the author.

I guess the best way to say it is that these little thoughts and musings about life in general are very much WHY I'm madly in love with her.

It's easy to overlook books like this, since they're light on text, but long on thought. The real value isn't in the simple words of the text, but in the profound effect on your own thinking - and in the way they can lead you into a deeper understanding of your own views on life.
