4.25 starsThis was a very good take on the classic Sherlock Holmes and Watson. But there were moment when the scene changes kinda through me off. And sometimes the dialogue seemed to drag on a bit too long in some scenes where it seemed like he was trying to make sure that Holmes said those classic Sherlock quotes. And Watson was just the muscle. The art was great..I think how it was drawn really help with the type of story he was trying to convey, them being in New York and all. Can't wait for the second volume, hopefully the dialogue is better.

Watson and Holmes A Study In Black eBook Karl Bollers Rick Leonardi Larry Stroman Justin Gabrie Reviews
Another retelling of a timeless tale. Though familiar, it never retreads other renditions or falls into tropes to cater to African Americans. A truly masterful story of mystery spun from a familiar duo.
The quality of the novel is outstanding. Fantastic story line, intelligent writing. They also have a website to purchase posters, t-shirts, etc.
Love this series. It's a five star book, with great writing and illustrations. However, a little difficult to navigate on the kindle.
I bought this on a lark, as I do with many a comic, and this was a truly decently written and drawn story. I'm looking forward to the next story whenever it's available.
Great, but I felt that there were questions left unanswered that shouldn't have been.
This is worth it for the artwork alone, which is GORGEOUS, but this has an exciting and quick-paced story as well. I like this exploration of the Sherlock Holmes universe in a Harlem setting. The creators have made clever links to the original while adding their own spin on the story. I'm looking forward to reading more in the future.
Love this book. Bought it because I'm a big Rick Leonardi fan. Was thrilled to see a story that met his talents. Intelligent adventure story by Karl Bollers. Love the way the modern story incorporates many of the basics of the Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes myth. Also enjoyed Leonardi's art on a different level, as it appears to be reproduced from his un-inked pencils. This is actually the best looking art from him I've seen in years. Highly enjoyable read.
